Big Khan to rule small screen!

December 28, 2008, (Sawf News) – Shah Rukh Khan-promoted Red Chillies Entertainment is diversifying into Television Production and will produce a comedy sitcom, Ghar Ke Baat, for NDTV Imagine.

The show will air on weekends starting January.

“We were planning a show with SRK for the past 4-5 months. We have now finalized a comedy sitcom. This show will mark Red Chillies’ foray into TV content production. It will go on air from mid-January and would be aired on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays,” NDTV Imagine CEO Sameer Nair told Economic Times.

Red Chillies Entertainment currently provides VFX support to the Indian Film Industry. It additionally co-owns the Indian Premier League’s Kolkata team, along with Juhi Chawla and her husband Jai Mehta, with a combined investment of $75 million.

Red Chillies is also set to line produce a weekly chat show, to be produced by Farah Khan’s promoted Three’s Company, which will air from March 2009.

The company’s other plans include an investment of Rs 100 crores in three big budget films.

The TV content industry is currently valued at Rs 1,000 crore and has been growing steadily at 18% over the past five years.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar too plans to invest in Television programming.
