May 15, 2009, (Sawf News) – Lead stars Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori, along with director Anurag Basu and writer/producer Rakesh Roshan, unveiled the first look of Kites at Cannes on May 14.

A teaser trailer and some key art posters of the film were unveiled at a press event, which was followed by a cocktail reception, hosted by Reliance’s BIG Pictures, for the film’s cast, crew, international buyers and distributors.

Barbara looked style challenged in a green empire waist halter gown with plunging V-neckline, asymmetrical hemline and a paisley and floral pattern border running down the middle of the front of the gown.

She was obviously relying on her décolletage and the metallic luster of her gown for effect.

She accessorized with a pair of shockingly ugly pair of jute belle flats, oval drop earrings and barely noticeable two bracelets in her left arm.

Her well styled hair somewhat made up for her crumpled dress – side parted bob with out turned ends adorned with a red rose above her right ear.

Hrithik looked a charmer in white suit, grey suede shoes and pale green floral print scarf loosely wrapped around his neck. His long hair was styled in curls and his French beard rocked.

Kites is being marketed extensively across international platforms. BIG Pictures is leaving no stone unturned in promoting the film at the Cannes Film Festival. The cast and crew of the film will be present during all activities related to KITES at the festival.

“This is our attempt to tap the mainstream international audience and we are hopeful that with an able partner like BIG Pictures, we will be able to meet this objective,” says producer Rakesh Roshan.

Kites is a story of love that goes beyond barriers, boundaries and cultures. With an internationally renowned crew and crisp story telling we have attempted to create a film which we feel has a scope to reach wider world audience and set new benchmarks,” adds Hrithik, Rakesh’s son.

Kites also stars Kangana Ranaut, Nick Brown and Kabir Bedi in pivotal roles. Two versions of the film, in English and Hindi, are being readied for release in the last quarter of 2009.
