New Delhi, Jan 13: Thanks to the buoyant Indian economy and the upcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, scheduled for 2010, construction activity is in full swing in and around the Capital.

Elsewhere too, townships are coming up in hordes, as the purchasing power of the middle-class is shooting up because of the plum jobs at MNCs, particularly the BPOs.

And, there is no dearth of construction materials that tend to make the concrete jungles look more beautiful and gorgeous. Every care is being taken to give a finishing touch that smells of clean-and-tidy work, enough to instantly attract the potential property buyers.

Gone are the days when ceramic tiles and granite marbles were pasted with the help of thick layers of cement, that kept peeping out till the time till it faded on its own leaving a permanent mark of the untidy work of the mansions. ‘Glue’ is the buzzword of today’s construction activity, to paste the tiles on floors, install granites against the outer surface of the walls, or fill in the spaces between two adjacent tiles or stone-slabs.

Laticrete, a US-based company manufacturing glue has invaded the Indian market, and has already acquired nearly two percent of it in the past five years. And, the MNC sees a bright future in India, says Laticrete Senior Vice-president (Training) Henry B. Rothberg, who was in New Delhi to penetrate his product further into the Indian market.

In his words, Laticrete is all about ‘thinking thin’ in terms of construction activity, thinking green’ with the objective of protecting the environment, and also ‘thinking productive’ as installing tiles with glue consumes less time and give better results in terms of ultimate finishing.

Speaking to ANI, Henry further said: "We offer a standard rainbow of 40 colours and can even customize according to the requirement, matching the exterior surface of either a residential or an industrial structure. It’s easy to use and has a longer life as compared to the traditional cement-system of installing tiles or stones."

He added that the total cost of Laticrete as compared to the traditional cement is "competitive".

Justifying why he is targeting Indian market, he said that the "fantastic growth" of the Indian construction market was enough for him to come all the way to the sub-continent to promote his product. (ANI)
